My VJ Set for Era 2017 presented media content created in Canada, North Africa and the Netherlands. Using photography, photogrammetric analysis, 3d modelling software and video editing software, I created motion graphics that blend all of these different media together into one big live dataset.

This mixed media approach to VJ-ing was a first, and turned out an interesting exercise especially for how it transforms the value of files.

Taking note of something you see, followed by technology induced hypermnesia. Reducing a multi-sensory memory to a snapshot. Optimising, expanding a memory (limited by human capabilities) by trying to capture it using state of the art technology. Rendering these files added value to them in how this process is very time consuming. Right until I found out about render farms that allow users to render their files using multiple remote processors, considerably speeding up this process.

This going back and forth, negotiating time, efficiency and productivity while working on something that originated from a place of curiosity, observation and a hunt for evocative stills of scenery is new to me and has become something dear to me.
